Rejection!

It never rains, but it pours....

Got 3 rejections today, after nothing for weeks. Two short stories and an agent rejection. This week has not been fun.

Well, I deserve it, I suppose. I've never liked either short story that much, and I haven't put any time into revising them. The agent thing? Well, it was my first agent try. I just have to keep trying that.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Rejection just stinks and stinks and continues to stink.

You said it!

Why can't they just accept everything I send them?
(Oh yeah, that's called a vanity press)

Oh yuck!

That's a bit much for a single day - did you send the subs out at the same time too? Weird coincidence :(

Agents blech - they are SO hard to get...

Actually one was an e-submission (and a friend of mine got a sale from the same magazine today!). Just weird coincidence....I just hope I don't get a note that I've been rejected for Viable Paradise as well!

My inner vibe says you are okay with that - hopefully it's correct today :)

No saying 'no' about VP! All positive! (Although I do wish we'd hear. I'm out of fingernails.)

Save that one for the workshop!

I was thinking... if, say, 'somebody' has 43 applications to read, that's roughly 430,000 words. That's four books' worth! We might not hear for another week. Oy. Then again, one hopes that some of them could be decided on with a fairly quick read. One also hopes that ours aren't among those! At least, not unless the quick read leads to, "Oh, yes! We want this one!"

On his blog, Douglas Cohen says most stories he only reads the first two or three pages...he knows by then.
