Baseboards/Cultural Reference/Reading
Jan. 8th, 2008 08:32 amMore baseboard work today. I yanked out the old baseboards yesterday, then cleaned all the excess grout off the tiles and vacuumed up debris aroung the edges. Since the tiles aren't square with the room (it figures...) I'll need to get some extra grout and backfill a couple of spots in order to assure the new baseboards don't show gaps. Today is sawing the new baseboards (all 45 degree angles), checking them for fit, and purchasing the new grout. Tomorrow I'll finish it off.

It's beautiful, but I wonder how many kids will look at this and go, huh? A couple of years ago, I actually forced my Academic Team to watch 2001. They deemed it the most boring movie they'd ever seen but agreed that it was important, if only for the number of cultural references on TV and in movies that are based on it. They suddenly understood many commercials much better....Heh!
(ETA: Then we watched 2010, just for contrast and discussion. Only one person caught the counting continuity error, where Mirren leaves out the 'four'....)
Finished reading Dreaming Death last night. Still like the book. Will probably clean up some word choices and add a sentence here or there, but otherwise, I'm leaving it alone. Nice feeling.
