Now that she'd noticed it, it began to hurt
(referring to a scrape on the shin.)
My critiquer says:
This is one of my pet peeves. It always sounds to me when you say it began to hurt that it started to hurt and then stopped. So be specific, did it hurt or didn't it?
Uh, what's hard to understand about that phrase? ...it began to hurt. Doesn't that just mean it didn't hurt before and now it does? Sometimes people strike me as a little out there with their understanding of the English language.
Sorry, a little critiquing angst going on! Growl, Growl!!
