Not sure I follow the Janet Jackson comment (you had a wardrobe malfunction? Your brother got a nose job?). But I do get the rejection thing. Each terse form letter seems as if it is saying "no really, you do stink".

But you know, sometimes it really IS just that they were looking for something else, and it is actually a good story. Lots of markets, keep submitting, yatatatata.
